Privacy Policy

Forge Learning Academy ("Forge Learning Academy," "we," "us," or "our") provides an educational tutoring application for K–12 homeschool families (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, and the choices available to you. We have written it in plain language because the families who use Forge Learning Academy deserve to understand exactly how their information is handled.

Who uses the App, and who is in control

Forge Learning Academy is built for families. A parent or guardian creates and controls the account. During setup, the parent provides their own email address and creates the family's account. A parent then adds one or more students (their children) to that account.

A student accesses their own learning dashboard using their first name, the parent's email address, and a PIN set within the account. Students do not create their own accounts and do not provide their own contact information. The parent remains in control of the account at all times and can review activity, adjust settings, and delete data.

Information we collect

We collect only what the App needs to provide a personalized learning experience. Specifically:

Account information (provided by the parent)

• Parent's email address (used to create and access the account)
• A parent PIN and student PIN used to access dashboards

Student learning information

• Student's first name
• Grade level and U.S. state (used to align lessons to grade and to state standards)
• Learning progress, lesson activity, and quiz scores
• Messages a student sends to, and receives from, the in-app AI tutor ("Forge Tutor"), retained so parents can review their child's chat activity

Voice input (pronunciation practice)

Some lessons include an optional pronunciation feature. When a student uses it, the App records a short audio clip on the device, sends it to a speech-recognition service to convert it to text and score the pronunciation, and uses the result to give feedback. The App does not save these voice recordings to our systems or to the student's profile. The audio is used only for immediate scoring.

What we do not collect

• We do not collect a student's last name, home address, phone number, or date of birth.
• We do not collect precise location (GPS).
• We do not use the App to serve third-party advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
• We do not knowingly collect contact information directly from children.

How we use information

• To create and maintain the family account and student dashboards
• To generate and deliver lessons tailored to a student's grade, state standards, and learning preferences
• To track learning progress and quiz performance so parents and students can see growth over time
• To provide the AI tutor and to let parents review their child's tutor conversations
• To provide pronunciation feedback when that feature is used
• To process subscriptions and manage access to paid features

How information is stored

The App stores information in two places: locally on the device, and in a secure cloud database that holds account and student records so they are available across the family's devices. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect this information.

Service providers we use

We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the App. These providers process information only to perform services for us, and each operates under its own privacy and security commitments.

Provider	Purpose
Anthropic	Powers the AI tutor and lesson generation. Lesson prompts and tutor messages are sent to Anthropic to produce responses.
Google Cloud	Text-to-speech (reading lessons aloud) and speech-to-text (scoring pronunciation).
Supabase	Secure cloud database for account and student records.
RevenueCat	Manages subscriptions and purchases.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Forge Learning Academy is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Because the App is set up and controlled by a parent or guardian:

• A parent provides verifiable consent by creating the account, adding their child as a student, and agreeing to this policy before any student information is collected.
• Students do not provide their own contact information; the only contact email associated with an account belongs to the parent.
• A parent can review the information associated with their child, including AI tutor conversations, at any time within the App.
• A parent can delete their child's information, or the entire account, at any time (see below).

If you believe we have collected information from a child without the proper parental consent, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.

Deleting your information

You are in control of your data. Within the App, a parent can delete a student or delete the entire account. When you delete your account, we remove your account record and the associated student information, including learning progress and stored AI tutor conversations, from our active systems. You may also request deletion by emailing us at [email protected].

Data retention

We keep account and student information for as long as the account is active. When an account or student is deleted, the associated information is removed from our active systems. Voice recordings used for pronunciation are not retained, as described above.

Faith-Forward and Standard modes

The App offers a Faith-Forward mode and a Standard Academic mode. The mode you choose is a setting stored with the account; choosing a mode does not cause us to collect any additional personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
